SSM Extends Compound Reduction Period Until Year End
The Companies Commission of Malaysia (SSM) has extended its compound reduction period until 31 December 2026, according to a press release issued on 9 October 2026. The reduction covers compounds under both the Companies Act 1965 and the Companies Act 2016.
The extension gives eligible companies room to settle outstanding compounds and bring their compliance in order under both Acts. Eligibility is tied to action. Companies that have taken remedial steps or met the conditions set by SSM may enjoy the reduced compound rate.
SSM names four groups that qualify: companies that have filed their outstanding documents, companies in the process of winding up, companies that have applied for strike off or have been struck off by the Registrar, and companies that have already been dissolved.
With less than three months to the deadline, and the year end holidays in between, companies with overdue filings, or dormant companies that were never formally closed, have a short window to act.
